Brushed finish concrete

typically used as a hard wearing surface for external yards. A brushed finish concrete floor is ideal for slip prevention and allows any surface water to drain to the falls that are required. Brushed concrete floors are usually used on external yards , garage forecourts or anywhere you find traffic.

Installation

once the concrete has been levelled and allowed to harden sufficiently a brush is pulled over the surface .

Power Floated Concrete

Floors-power floated concrete floors produce a smooth hardwearing easy to maintain finish and are usually for internal floors and where tighter tolerances are required. A powerfloated floor is ideal for for industrial units and requires no additional finishes although tiles, screeds ,resins ,paints or other flooring materials are sometimes used as a covering.

Installation

the concrete is placed and levelled and left to sufficiently harden until it is firm enough to receive the weight of a power float. The first couple of pass overs the Powerfloat will have circular discs (panning) on to help level and smooth before the Powerfloat with metal blades finishes the floor to a smooth level hard wearing surface

Dry shake toppings/coloured floors

A coloured concrete floor is usually obtained with a dry shake topping although it can be delivered already in the mix .

Installation

a dry shake topping is put on at the panning stage and will ,depending on the specification receive between 3kg and 7kg of dry shake topping per meter square. This will be then powerfloated to a smooth finish that is an additional surface hardener.

Blue/trowel finish

this finish is generally used when there will be an additional finish to the floor such as a screed , tiles or timber flooring Instillation – the concert is placed and levelled and a blue or easy float is pushed over it to give it a smoother finish .

Tamped concrete floors

suitable where maximum grip is required ,typically farmyards or steeper inclines.

Installation

after laying the concrete to the required falls a screed is raised and lowered to compact the surface leaving a ridged surface.

Depending on the design ,concrete floors can vary in design, depth and strength of concrete depending on variables such as loads they will receive and the ground they are sat on. They will be typically reinforced with either fabric mesh , fibres or where more strength is required rebar is deployed.
